So I got an email one day about the Social Media Blueprint. I have a friend in Seattle that makes decent money posting on Facebook and Twitter as a career. I wanted to investigate and see how viable the opportunity is.

First, it is a business opportunity/career training. The site is designed to give you training on how to:

Start a business as a social media consultant – with this ‘pathway’ you would help small businesses in your local community put their brand on social media sites.
Establish a career as a social media expert – with this ‘pathway’ you would work as a social media expert with a large company and run their campaigns exclusively in-house. There are many jobs available.

While both pathways present their own unique advantages and disadvantages; the site does a good job at giving you a decent introduction to the basic aspects of: Blogger, twitter, Facebook, YouTube, HootSuite, Linkedin; etc.

We like the site because they understand that social media is a trend — meaning, it is here to stay and employers will increasingly value employees that grapple with social media.

Unfortunately, it is not enough just to understand how to post on twitter and Facebook. You should also understand the underlying strategies of what businesses value online and how to meet them. You will likely guide your clients/employer on how to leverage social media to bring more customers. The videos do a good job at explaining these issues.
